Dead Island I main Purna and have all her gun damage related skills in both games. In Riptide I can one shot kill walkers in the head with a pistol but in the first game I can have a pistol that does 1500 damage yet it will only do near 500 damage anywhere on the body INCLUDING THE HEAD.

Probably the easiest way to get another is to join another player in coop - just look for a game in Chapter 2, as that is the mission to defend Paradise Camp - once you've done the initial fight you get the flare gun as a reward to then blow up the bridge. The one problem with the idea of drops is that weapons have a level also which is usually the level your character is at. Later around the 30's the weapons stats change so drastically that anything 4 levels or lower begins to cripple the amount if damage you can do. It's a bummer when you find orange weapons early in the game.
